Why Homeowners Trust KTN for Roof Repair

A roof leak doesn't wait for a convenient time. By the time you see water on the ceiling, the underlayment, insulation, and sometimes drywall have already been compromised. The longer it sits, the more it costs to fix. KTN Roofing is built around responding fast, finding the actual source of the leak (not just the visible damage), and repairing it correctly the first time.

Common Roof Repairs We Handle Every Week

Most repair calls in our service area fall into a handful of categories: missing or wind-damaged shingles, deteriorated flashing around chimneys and skylights, cracked tiles on Spanish and Mediterranean-style roofs, leaks at roof penetrations (vents, plumbing stacks, HVAC curbs), and storm damage from the occasional Sierra-foothill weather event. We handle every one of these regularly.

We also see a lot of "phantom leaks" — water stains that appear to be from a roof leak but actually trace back to condensation, an attic ventilation problem, or a plumbing issue above the ceiling. Part of our diagnostic process is ruling out non-roof sources before recommending a repair that won't solve the actual problem.

Storm and Wind Damage Repair Across the Foothills

Wind events in the Auburn, Newcastle, and Grass Valley areas can lift shingles, dislodge tiles, and tear flashing without an obvious sign from the ground. After any major storm, we recommend a free estimate: catching small damage now prevents it from becoming a major leak by the next winter.

Tile, Shingle, Metal — Every Roof Type

KTN repairs every common residential roof system: asphalt composition shingles (architectural and 3-tab), concrete and clay tile, standing seam and corrugated metal, and low-slope rolled roofing. Tile roofs in particular need a contractor who knows how to walk them without breaking more tiles than they replace.

Honest Pricing, Itemized Estimates

We provide written, itemized estimates after every inspection — no verbal-only quotes.

If we find that the smartest move is actually a reroof rather than a repair, we'll tell you that — and explain why — rather than chase short-term revenue on a roof that won't last another season.

Warning Signs

Do You Actually Need a Roof Repair?

Not every roof noise or stain is a real problem. Here are the signs we see most often that point to a real underlying issue worth addressing now rather than later.

Water stains on the ceiling

A brown or yellow ring on a ceiling almost always means water has made it past the underlayment. The leak source is usually several feet uphill from where the stain appears.

Granules in the gutters

Heavy granule loss means your shingle layer is breaking down. A small amount is normal after a new install; ongoing loss after year five is a sign of accelerated aging.

Lifted or curled shingle edges

Visible from the ground in most cases. Lifted edges let wind get underneath and rip shingles off in the next storm — better to seal them down now.

Missing or cracked tiles

Tile roofs lose individual tiles to wind, foot traffic, and freeze cycles.

Visible flashing damage

Rust streaks, gaps, or lifted metal around chimneys, skylights, and vents are the most common leak source on roofs 10+ years old. Inexpensive to reseal, expensive to ignore.

Daylight visible in the attic

If you can see daylight through the roof deck from inside the attic, water and pests are also getting in. This is an immediate-attention repair.

Most leak calls are scheduled within 24-48 hours. For active interior leaks, we prioritize same-day or next-day response whenever weather allows safe roof access.
